I always get my best ideas for writing in the most unusual places. This morning while I was watching “The Princess Diaries”, one of them came to me. Yes, I love, love stories. In this movie, the girl finds out she’s a Princess and but she sees that it’s just too hard and decides to abdicate. But after realizing her life isn’t about just her (“I”), she decides to take her crown and stand in her place as Princess.
It reminded me of “Me”, my role, my crown, my future and the future of others who depend on me. I am God’s Princess! If I choose to not follow him, not read his word, not accept his purpose for my life; I’m abdicating! I’m giving up His royalty for slavery. WOW!
God has given us these verses to help remind us of Who and Whose we are in Christ!
John 1:12-13 (NIV)
12 Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God— 13 children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.
1 Peter 2:9 (NIV)
9 But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.
Galatians 4:7 (NIV)
7 So you are no longer a slave, but God’s child; and since you are his child, God has made you also an heir.
2 Corinthians 6:18 (NIV)
18 And, “I will be a Father to you, and you will be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty.
I am a Princess and God, The King, is my Father! I accept my crown and all the responsibilities that come with it, no matter how difficult or demanding. I will follow in my Father’s footsteps and take my place in his kingdom! I will lead with God’s authority while wearing the Armour of God!
Friends, don’t take this role lightly. Your purpose is to love and help others see God. Through your serving, they will see. Through your generosity, they will see. Through your loving others, they will see. Through you testimonies/stories, they will see. They will no longer see the darkness, but the light; God’s light! You are a Princess/Prince! You are meant to be seen! So SHINE!
