I belong to several communities: school, church and home. But my favorite communities lie outside of these places, but have everything to do with them. My home community consists of family and friends who love and care about me and each other. My church community consists of people who care about other people and a life group that supports and listens to each other. My school community consists of co-workers who have become like family. But my new favorite community is my PLC (Professional Learning Community).
My PLC consists of women who share the same trials and successes. Who change the lives of children daily and who love teaching and believe in their purpose. These ladies work hard to share and improve their craft, follow center, county and state rules and regulations while making sure their students are learning, safe and sound. Today we met after a day of teaching to connect and discuss a book we’ve been reading together. We started discussing the book, but our time turned into a sharing of our classrooms and students, inspiring and uplifting each other, believing and supporting one another. We didn’t try to one-up each other, we didn’t focus on ourselves and we didn’t try to have all the answers.
We listened to each other, we supported each other and we cared for each other. Brought together by a county who believes we can do more together than alone. One who supports and guides us to continue to be superior in our field of expertise. One who believes that teachers are just as important as the students they teach.
Teachers, in a world where test scores are considered more important than what is taught, we must remember that God made us for this purpose. He created you on purpose, for This purpose. You are like no other person, so stop wanting and trying to be like someone else. You are wonderfully and beautifully made! You are who God created you to be! There is no one who can do what you can do, there is no one who teaches the way you do, there is no one who loves and supports the students the way you do. You are the only one; the only you! He knew you before you were even born. He created you, knitted you together, very special, very unique, very you!
God saw your unformed body; all the days ordained for you were written in God’s book before one of them came to be (Psalm 139:16-italicize words are author added). He knows you, created you and loves you! He is your Rock, Savior and Best Friend! He is always here for you! Trust His ways and trust His journey in your life! Your purpose brings Him glory! Just be Awesome YOU!
On a side note:
Remember to take time out of your busy day just for you! Go home, get alone and brush off the day. What you didn’t get to do or say today, can be said or done tomorrow. Tomorrow is a new day, a start over! Leave the past in the past and move forward into today. Begin again each day! Weeping may endure for the night, but joy comes in the morning! Psalm 30:5b-NIV
Hi Lola! Your blog posts are very uplifting and inspiring. I am so happy that your PLC has been a good experience for you. I am not naive enough to think that everyone feels the same about their experience but it is whatever you put into it. We are all at different places in our journey to be the best educator that we can be. I appreciate your positive outlook and all you do for the children!
