I have always been the one to wait until the last minute to do things. Over the years, I have gotten better but not perfect. For 2 days, I have sat on my bed in my room on the computer watching and listening to webinars; one for my school, one for NC Pre-K Teachers and 15+ for Chick-Fil-A (part-time job).
As I rolled my eyes about how many I had to do, I want you to know that I had plenty of time to get these done. I was told ahead of time what needed to be done, but I am not great with time management when it comes to webinars. Plus, I seem to work better on a deadline because I can focus on just what needs to get done.
A funny/not so funny story:
Last night, I only finished the webinar for NC Pre-K Teachers (It was really long) and worked on some of the Chick-Fil-A ones. Sweating bullets, I was trying not to think about all I needed to do today when I got home from school. Well, when I got to school this morning, the school was dark inside looking in from the outside. One of the teachers said that we had no power; something about a house fire and a traffic light exploding. All the teachers were inside chillin’ and waiting to see if the power was coming back on. Some teachers were telling parents that students could not be dropped off. After about 9:00am, my director told me to go home.
Wow! A bad situation turned into a great situation for me. I went home and completed all the webinars (it took the WHOLE day), but they are completed and I got to write you a blog about it. I don’t believe in luck, I believe in God. I do believe he was looking out for me even though the situation that brought me to stay home today was not a great one for someone else. I know He loves me and He knows all about my procrastination problem. He’s still working on me!
Lesson learned: Don’t wait until the last minute to get things done. Schedule time to sit and do what needs to be done, even if it is for a little while. Know that learning takes time and practice helps to get it right. You are not alone and are not the only one who does it. Most importantly, know that God loves you no matter what your bad habit is and if you let Him, He will work on it with you to make it better.
My friends, we are wonderfully and beautifully made, not perfectly made. Only God is perfect! He created you special like no one else and He loves you just the way you are. Don’t be so hard on yourself. Find the JOY (he gives you) and the WISDOM (he gives you) in your situation to move forward and thank Him for these special gifts. He is your Heavenly Father and He wants to give you good gifts because He loves you!
