For the past few weeks, I have been having dreams about being locked in building and I or the other people can’t get out. In one dream, I got out but I felt lost and didn’t know where I was or how to get back home.
A couple of nights ago, I had another dream that I was at the mall ( another building) with my daughter. Everyone was just going about their shopping, when all of a sudden water cracked the windows and everyone was screaming! I was in a store where the windows weren’t cracked and the business owner closed and locked the door.
I looked out of a back window and saw up in the skies, Jesus on a enormous cloud. His hands were outstretched and it was a beautiful sight. Then I saw angels, lots of them, in the clouds waiting. I felt peace at that moment and I sat down on a bench beside a man (who I didn’t know) and put my head on his shoulder and said, “I’m Ready!”. He didn’t say anything.
I started to feel nervous, because my daughter wasn’t with me. I wanted her to be with me when we are raptured. I looked around the store, but she wasn’t there. There was a commotion outside in the middle of the mall and everyone went to the door of the store to see what was going on. People were running and scurrying around trying to leave. The business owner opened the door and some of us went out. I began to search for my daughter, looking everywhere and at everyone. I saw her from afar, went to her, grabbed hand and hugged her. I told her that Jesus is coming soon and I knew she was ready too.
After that, I woke up and remember how vivid the dream was and how disturbing it was that I was in a building again. I tried to think about what it meant and why I was dreaming so heavily about buildings and people. Sometime later after my devotion that morning, God whispered to me about my dream. He said, “What about my other children, what about that man and all those other people? You said that you were ready, but what about them? Are they ready? Do they know who I am?”
WOW! What a way to make me realize that I’m not doing the job God has asked me to do for him. I know I’m ready when Jesus comes to take me home. But there are millions of other who aren’t. And what am I doing to help them to know who Jesus is and what he has come for?
Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” (Matthew 28:18-20)
We are to tell everyone, EVERYONE about Jesus! This is hard for me, even though the two things I love to talk about the most are Jesus and Teaching! I’m good at talking to people I know and of course children. But STRANGERS, NO WAY! I might can comment while I’m in line waiting to pay for my groceries or paying for gas or meeting someone new at church, but not just talking about Jesus and how he has set me free, to STRANGERS!
But no one would say anything publicly about him for fear of the Jews. (John 7:13) I don’t fear the Jews, but maybe self-image or I know I’ll get the scripture wrong. You know, I’m not perfect!
But Jesus is and he made us in his image, so he helps us have the courage to talk about him and share our stories with others. He places them in our lives so we don’t have any other choice but to tell them or the choice to reject him and the ones who he has sent to hear his word.
Again Jesus said, “Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.” And with that he breathed on them and said, “Receive the Holy Spirit.” (John 20:21-22)
In the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who will judge the living and the dead, and in view of his appearing and his kingdom, I give you this charge: Preach the Word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage with great patience and careful instruction. (2Timothy 4:1-2)What about people who aren’t strangers? What about our families, relatives, co-workers and church family? Sometimes it’s easier to talk with STRANGERS than people we really know well.
Moses told his father-in-law about everything the Lord had done to Pharaoh and the Egyptians for Israel’s sake and about all the hardships they had met along the way and how the Lord had saved them. Jethro was delighted to hear about all the good things the Lord had done for Israel in rescuing them from the had of the Egyptians and of Pharaoh, and who rescued the people from the hand of the Egyptians. Now I know that the Lord is greater than all other gods, for he did this to those who had treated Israel arrogantly.” Then Jethro, Moses’ father-in-law, brought a burnt offering and other sacrifices to God and Aaron came with all the elders of Israel to eat bread with Moses’ father-in-law in the presence of God. (Exodus 18:8-12)
On the tenth day of the first month the people went up from the Jordan and camped at Gilgal on the eastern border of Jericho. And Joshua set up at Gilgal the twelve stones they had taken out of the Jordan. He said to the Israelites, “In the future when your descendants ask their fathers,’ What do these stones means?’ tell them, ‘Israel crossed the Jordan on dry ground’. For the Lord you God dried up the Jordan before you until you had crossed over. The Lord your God did to the Jordan just what he had done to the Red Sea when he dried it up before us until we had crossed over. He did this so that all the peoples of the earth might know that the hand of the Lord is powerful and so that you might always fear the Lord your God.” (Joshua 4:19-24)
Paul to Timothy: I have been reminded of your sincere faith, which first lived in your grandmother Lois and in your mother Eunice and I am persuaded, now lives in you also. For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which in in you through the laying on of my hands. For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power of love and of self-discipline. So do not be ashamed to testify about our Lord, or ashamed of me his prisoner. But join with me in suffering for the gospel, by the power of God who has saved us and called us to a holy life, not because of anything we have done but because of his own purpose and grace. This grace was given us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time. (2 Timothy 1: 5-10)
Telling others about Jesus whether it is a family member, neighbor, co-worker, church member, friend or even a STRANGER is so important! Instead of worrying about self, I needed a reminder of worrying about others. Using the gifts and talents that God has given me to touch other lives and share what my Wonderful, Awesome God has done for me. Loving others is the key!
