The Color of Your Feelings!

In a recent lesson to children at church, we talked about the upcoming school year.  I gave them a white/orange piece of paper and told them to choose three crayons.  The crayons represent three different feeling they are having about the upcoming school year.  The fun part was that they could only scribble on their paper and not draw a picture.

After they finished, I had each one tell what colors they used and why.  Some said they were nervous, scared (new school), worried (new teacher), sad (losing friends).  Some said they were happy, joyous, glad (new friends, nice teacher).  The colors they choose fit their feelings and no one was nervous about sharing.  I had more boys than girls.  I was so proud of them.

After they shared their scribbles, I told them that God can take away whatever feeling they are having.  In his word (bible), He gives us scriptures to help stop or celebrate whatever feeling we are having.  He fills us with hope, love and strengthens our faith!

When we are feeling:

Sad – John 14:1-4

Worried – Matthew 6:25-34

Scared – Psalm 23:1-6

Tired – Matthew 11:28

Unloved – Romans 8:38-39

Unfriendly – Romans 12:9-21

After reading these, we decided that we should read these scriptures,  talk to God about how we are feeling and let him help us to feel better.  Because he always does!  He loves us and wants the best for us, his best!

Pray for your kids and with your kids this school year!  Pray everyday they need our spiritual support as well as our love.  Our kids are important, they matter!  God already knows that because he created them!  Be Blessed!
